Privacy Policy

October 2026

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use knithub.

Data We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and optional profile information such as your avatar, occupation, and location. We also collect the charts and content you create on the platform. To improve the service, we also keep our own usage records: which pages you open, how long you stay and how far you scroll, which tools you use in the chart editor, and technical details such as your device type, operating system, browser, screen size, language and approximate country. The country is derived from your IP address; we do not store the IP address itself. When you are signed in, these records are linked to your account. When you are signed out, they carry only a random ID that is discarded when you reload the page. Choosing 'Decline All' in the cookie banner stops these records. When you are signed in, we also record which version of the web app your browser is running, so we can see how many people are still on an outdated build after a release; these entries are kept for 90 days, and the iOS and Android apps do not send them. If you subscribe to Knithub Pro, we also store your plan, its renewal or end date, and whether it was bought on the website or through an app store.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to provide and improve the knithub service. This includes displaying your profile and charts to other users, sending you important account notifications, and analyzing aggregate usage patterns to enhance the platform. We will never sell your personal data to third parties.

Cookies

knithub uses cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences (such as theme and language), and understand how the platform is used. For more details about the cookies we use and how to manage them, please visit our Cookie Preferences page.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed from our systems. Usage records are deleted after 180 days, and those linked to your account are deleted together with it. Requests that our servers reject are logged with their IP address and browser details for 5 days, to protect the service against abuse. Payment records held by Stripe, Apple or Google are kept by them for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can update your profile information in your account settings or request a full data export. You can delete your account and all associated data yourself, in the app or on knithub.nl, under Settings → Security → Delete account. It is hidden at once and permanently erased after 30 days. We comply with GDPR requirements for users in the European Union.

Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate knithub: a cloud hosting provider for our infrastructure, Sentry for error and performance monitoring, SimpleAnalytics for privacy-friendly, cookieless usage statistics, and IPinfo for approximate, IP-based location (used to show prices in your currency and to add the country to our own usage records). Some of these providers (Sentry, IPinfo, Stripe and RevenueCat) are based in the United States, so using knithub may involve transferring limited technical data — such as your IP address and error diagnostics — outside the EU under appropriate safeguards. Each provider is bound by its own privacy policy and processes your data only as needed to provide its service. We do not share your personal information with advertisers, nor do we sell your data. For Knithub Pro subscriptions, payments are processed by Stripe on the website and by Apple or Google in the apps, and RevenueCat (United States) verifies app store subscriptions for us. We never receive your full card details.

If you have questions or concerns about your privacy, please reach out through our Contact page. We take privacy seriously and will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible.
